A new partnership between CHA ART SPACE and AVA!
CHA ART SPACE is a modular public art exhibit space, currently housed in the ticketing area of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (where it can be viewed and enjoyed by any visitor 24/7). It was established in 2021 by artist and director/curator, Carrie Pendergrass, in collaboration with the Chattanooga Airport. The launch of the space and its’ inaugural exhibit, “Into the Blue: Abstraction in the Airport” was made possible via an Artist Work Grant, with partnership/funding from ArtsBuild, Public Art Chattanooga, and Southeast TN Development District. Carrie has been operating it independently since 2022, hosting 3-4 themed, juried exhibits per year, showcasing art from local and regional artists and collections.
AVA is thrilled to announce that we are now partnering with Carrie Pendergrass of CHA ART SPACE! Over the next few weeks CHA ART SPACE will transition into an AVA satellite program. It will remain under Carrie’s management, but will now include infrastructural and staff support from AVA.
What does that mean for AVA Members? New benefits, of course! While we are still working out all the details, one thing is certain: AVA Members will receive a discount on submission fees!
Submission fees:
One piece is $15
Two pieces is $25
Three pieces is $35 *The third piece will be FREE for AVA Members!

NEW CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!
As a verb, it can refer to the assembling or meeting of people or to stockpile, squirrel away, and
accumulate things or ideas. As a noun, it can refer to an area of a garment that is drawn in or
“puckered.” Throughout the years, we “gather” together as friends, families, crowds, and
communities. Throughout our lives, we “gather” all sorts of things, from photographs to crops
and even knowledge. Artists are asked to submit work relating to their responsive
interpretation(s) of “gather(ing).”

SUMMER
August 30th-November, 2024
Summer, at its’ core is the warmest season (“hottest” better describes it here in the South). It is a time of year that is anxiously anticipated by many for the potential it brings. Just reading the word can evoke images, sounds, smells and memories. Artists are invited to engage all of their senses to reflect on what or how they can visually represent Summer in their work. Everything aspect has potential-from color and textural associations to flora, fauna, scenery, food, objects, people, and experiences. Although it might be late in the season, it seems an appropriate time to showcase Summer’s essence as we enter a new phase.
