Artist Bios and Statements

with Laura Cleary Williams

In this two part workshop, Williams will be leading attendees through various exercises to draft and polish an artist biography and statement. Artist bios and statements are necessary and useful documents required for many applications, exhibitions, residencies and other opportunities.

Artists who register will be expected to participate both days. The workshop will include lecture/discussion, writing exercises, group feedback and critique to edit and polish created content. We will take an hour lunch break each day in the middle of the workshop from 12-1 and attendees can either bring lunch or visit one of the many restaurants along Frazier Avenue. The workshop will include lecture/discussion, writing exercises, group feedback and critique to edit and polish created content.

Materials: Participants should plan to bring a charged lap-top (and charger) as well as writing implements, such as pen and a notebook or paper.

Session 1: December 7th from 10-3 PM
Session 2: December. 14th from 10-3 PM
