There is a rich history with thread in my family. I am a 4th generation seamstress. The jobs of the women in my family who have seen for a living have ranged from working for private citizens to glove factories. Privately they each made items for family members from clothes to quilts. Tables were decorated with napkins and cloths that they fashioned and adorned with stitches. This piece is a part of a collection I am working on where I marry my artistically style with stitches and thread to give pops of color and texture. I feel this use of thread is a natural evolution for me from learning to sew at a young age at the feet of the women in my family. It's a beautiful way to take what those women taught me and share it with other.
